A Literary Event ‘Law and Poetry’ by NLU - Delhi Students

NEW DELHI, DECEMBER 15: A literary event was recently organised in National Law University, Delhi (NLU-D) . The event saw poetry recitations of more than 40 poets and plays from across the globe
The theme of the event ‘Law and Poetry’ (Kavita aur Kanoon) witnessed plays of well known literary works on the occasion. The prominent ones include Antigone by Sophocles, two adaptations of God Sees the Truth, but Waits by Lev Nikolaevich Tolstoi, and Merchant of Venice, Act 4 by Shakespeare.
The chief guest of the event was Prof. M.K Bhatt, Director, Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies. He hailed the efforts of the 1 st year students of NLU-D who took major initiative in making the program successful.
The guest of honour, Manoj Varghese, a senior j‘Law and Poetry’ by NLU- Delhi Studentsournalist and a theatre personality said, ‘It was a wonderful showcase of first year students.....keep up the good work’. The guests were the jury members and judged the plays to select the best teams and individual actors.
The mention of the visionary role of the vice-chancellors of National Law University Delhi, Prof. Ranbir Singh, in supporting literary and cultural exposure for the students, won an applause from the participants.
Dr. Prasannanshu, a founding faculty of NLU D elhi and a senior littérateur designed the event to give exposure to the students for adding to their personality and development of communication skills.
Dr. Prasannanshu, said “Law and literature are inseparable, as there is law in literature, and literature in law”.
Indraprastha Literature Festival collaborated with NLUD to organize this multilingual poetry event. The evening saw poetry recitations in Hindi, English, Urdu, Oriya, German, and Dharug, an Australian aboriginal language.
Thre other guests included Syed Sibte Razi, Former Governor of Assam and Jharkhand; Rashmi Malik, Principal, Salwan Public School, Dr. Ashok Lav, Senior Littérateur , and an author.
