Maharashtra ITI admission 2026 portal goes live; Aadhaar verification, UPI fee payment introduced

The Directorate of Vocational Education and Training (DVET), Maharashtra, launched the Centralized Online ITI Admission Portal for the 2026 academic session on May 21 at 11 am. The admission process for government and private Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the state was made available through the official website, admission.dvet.gov.in.

DVET officials informed that several new digital features have been introduced this year to simplify the admission process for students. These include Aadhaar verification, WhatsApp messaging services, and fee payment through UPI scanner along with other online payment modes.

According to the admission statistics released by the department, a total of 1,565 candidates had completed registration on the portal. Of these, 982 students had successfully completed their application forms, while 784 candidates had paid the admission fees within a few hours of the portal becoming operational.

Maharashtra ITI 2026: Admission process and guidelines

The department has also issued detailed admission guidelines and registration procedures for candidates applying to ITI trades under the centralized admission process. Students are required to complete online registration, verify their Aadhaar details and mobile numbers through OTP, upload documents, and confirm their applications online. Only one application can be submitted using a single mobile number.

As per the admission handbook, Maharashtra has 420 government ITIs across 358 talukas with nearly one lakh intake capacity, along with 586 private ITIs offering around 60,000 seats. The centralized process covers admissions to both government and private institutes.

DVET has advised candidates and parents to carefully read the admission rules, reservation policy, eligibility criteria, and admission schedule before submitting applications. Free counselling and guidance sessions are also being conducted at ITIs during the admission period to assist students with the registration and admission process.

Maharashtra ITI Admission 2026: Rules, seat distribution and incentive marks

Candidates applying for the ITI Centralized Admission Process (CAP) are permitted to submit only one application form. If a candidate submits multiple applications, all registrations will be cancelled and the candidate may face permanent disqualification from the admission process.

As per the seat distribution policy, 90% of seats are reserved for Home District candidates based on the district where they passed the SSC examination, while the remaining 10% seats are allotted to candidates from other districts. Mumbai City and Mumbai Suburban will be considered a single Home District for admission purposes.

Candidates can also receive additional incentive marks in the merit calculation for achievements such as Intermediate Drawing Grade Examination certification, sports participation at district, state, or national level, and education from government-approved Bolster Schools in Maharashtra. A maximum of 50 bonus marks can be awarded.
