Maharashtra launches 56 university-related services on Aaple Sarkar portal

The Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Department has launched 56 university-related services on the Aaple Sarkar portal. Out of the 56 notified services, 20 are linked directly to universities. Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil said the services will make processes accessible to nearly 20 lakh students across the state.

As per the official press release, universities and affiliated colleges have been instructed to provide information about these services on their websites under the “Right to Services (RTS)” tab. Applications submitted by students will be reflected on the Aaple Sarkar portal dashboard, showing the number of applications received, pending, and completed.

“On the Aaple Sarkar portal, consolidated data of all universities will be available, showing the number of applications received, pending applications, and actions taken,” the press release said.

Universities to verify applications on time

Patil said universities will have to verify the details of each application and ensure delivery of services within the time limit prescribed under the Act. The minister further added that every college will appoint a legal officer to supervise the services.

Students will be required to register on their respective university websites before applying. To prevent the misuse of academic credentials, universities have also been asked to introduce blockchain-based systems for certificate verification.

The minister further directed that vice-chancellors conduct weekly reviews to monitor the implementation. The department will organise workshops for university officials to train them in handling the new system.

Certificates, mark sheets to be available online

Services such as issuing certificates, mark sheets and other documents will be made available online, and universities will inform students about the status of their applications through SMS alerts.

He said that universities and colleges must also promote vocational education while implementing the notified services. The state government has instructed all institutions to begin the process immediately and to ensure that students do not face delays in accessing essential services.
