MCC reopens NEET PG counselling 2024 resignation facility; leave round 1, 2 seats by December 31

Download nowNEW DELHI: Following requests from candidates, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has reopened the facility to resign round 1, 2 seats under the National Eligibility Entrance Test - Postgraduate (NEET PG) counselling 2024 with forfeiture of security deposit. The notification comes in the backdrop of the declaration of seat allotment results of state counselling.
According to the recent update on the official website of MCC, mcc.nic.in, the deadline for vacating the seats is December 31, 2024. Candidates who were allotted the All India Quota (AIQ) seats in the first or second round of MCC NEET PG 2024 counselling and wish to resign can do so using the process earlier informed by the admission authority.
“The Resignation with forfeiture of Security Deposit for Round 1 & Round-2 seat of PG Counselling 2024 has been reopened as per requests being received and is available up to 05:00 P.M of 30.12.2024,” the latest update on MCC website read.
Initially, MCC allowed seat allotted candidates to leave their seats from December 17, 2024 to December 26, 2024 clarifying that round 2 rules will apply and thus, the security deposit will be forfeited. The committee also notified the guidelines for resignation .
State NEET PG counselling 2024
Telangana has issued the NEET PG merit list for round 1 while Jharkhand, Gujarat, and Haryana have declared the seat allotment results for round 2 counselling.
Recently, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) of Telangana State wrote to state chief minister A Revanth Reddy demanding expedition of conduct of Telangana NEET PG counselling 2024 and suggested requesting the MCC to delay the AIQ resignation period for Telangana students.
Meanwhile, the central counselling committee has also commenced the NEET PG round 3 counselling 2024 and the last date to apply is January 1, 2025.
