MCC NEET PG Counselling 2024: What is bond policy? State-wise service bond, stipend details

NEW DELHI: The NEET PG counselling 2024 registration process is underway for admission in postgraduate medical courses. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has published the details on fee structure, stipend, bond policy, and course duration on the official website as provided by the medical and dental colleges. The committee has also advised candidates to check the bond policy and stipend details before exercising the choice facility at mcc.nic.in.

As per the MCC NEET PG counselling 2024 dates, the choice filling facility will begin today and the last date for submission of application form and choice locking is September 26. The MCC conducts the NEET PG counselling process for MS, MD, MDS, DNB admissions in 50% all India quota (AIQ) seats in Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Delhi University (DU), central universities, and 100% DNB.

“MCC has no role in fixation of fee structure of participating colleges including deemed universities. Therefore, MCC of DGHS will not entertain any request or complaint regarding fee structure of participating colleges including deemed universities. The Candidates may also verify the address of the selected colleges at the time of choice-filling,” the NEET PG information bulletin read.

There are three different types of NEET PG bond policies namely service bond, seat leaving bond, and bank guarantee.

Types of NEET PG bond policy

A NEET PG service bond is a contract between the student and the state government to render medical services in rural, tribal areas in the same state where they are pursuing the postgraduate course. The bond also involves compulsory rural service for a certain duration after the completion of the PG medical course. Delhi, Meghalaya, Manipur and Chandigarh have no service bond policy.

The NEET PG seat leaving policy was introduced to reduce abrupt resignations and wastage of seats. However, the NMC earlier this year informed that the PG medical seats saw an increase of 127% from 31,185 before 2014 to 70,674. It also said that 247 PG medical seats remained vacant last year.

There was a significant drop in the number of vacant seats as compared to 2022 when 64,059 postgraduate medical seats were not filled. The Union health ministry had reduced the NEET PG cut-off percentile to zero to fill up vacant seats last year during the round 3 counselling process. The MCC conducts a total of four rounds of AIQ counselling.

State-wise bond for NEET PG also includes submission of bank guarantee issued from nationalised banks stating that the student has made a fixed deposit. This amount is locked as security money until the graduate completes their course.
