NEW DELHI, NOVEMBER 27: The inaugural edition of RELEAD 2018, an All India Case Study Contest organized by ReNew Power came to an exciting conclusion with the team from Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon emerging National Winners. The winners received a cash prize of Rs. 1.5 lakh and earned Pre Placement Interviews with ReNew Power along with an opportunity to visit one of ReNew’s project sites.
The contest revolved around a “live” business problem which challenged budding managers from the country’s premier business schools to analyze the renewable energy sector and suggest a diversification strategy for Renew Power. The preliminary round saw an overwhelming response with over 135 teams from leading business schools sending in their entries.
After an initial round of screening, a total of 7 teams (from IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Lucknow, IIM Calcutta, IIM Raipur, IIM Rohtak and MDI Gurgaon) were shortlisted for the National Finals. The teams presented their recommendations before an eminent jury comprising of Mr. Rahul Tongia who leads the Energy & Sustainability Group at Brookings India and leading entrepreneur Ms. Sairee Chahal, Founder & CEO of SHEROES – a community platform for supporting women. After an intense daylong session of presentations, the jury selected the MDI Gurgaon team as deserving champions. The winning team suggested various innovative diversification options for ReNew to consider – backed by in depth research and deep domain knowledge.
Explaining the rationale behind this initiative, Vaishali Nigam Sinha, Chief Communication, Sustainability & CSR officer said, “The renewable energy sector is poised to create 3 million new jobs by 2030 and platforms like RELEAD will play a key role in generating more awareness and interest about the sector amongst tomorrow’s leaders and help attract the best talent to this sector. As leaders in this space, we are keen to engage with the youth and tap their innovation potential to find solutions to the various challenges that confront the sector. This is important for the sector and also the planet.”
The jury also appreciated the quality of analysis and breakthrough ideas presented by the students and thanked ReNew Power for organizing such an initiative.
