NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Human Resources and Development (MHRD) launched the ‘Higher Education Leadership Development Programme for Administrator’ on Wednesday.

The initiative is a joint venture involving the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the British Council under the UK India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI).

In a bid to enhance leadership skills in middle and senior-level administrative staff in universities, the program will include two workshops by UK trainers. Around 300 academic administrators at the registrar and joint, deputy or assistant registrar-levels are expected to attend.

Among the 300 participants and 30 potential trainers will be chosen for additional training that will equip them to train others.

On the occasion, Ramesh Singh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ MHRD minister said that the programme will be a step towards institutional development in line with the Governments’ commitment to improving the quality of education being imparted in universities.

Moreover, the program also aims to promote learning for inclusive and internationally connected higher education systems.

UGC will conduct this programme in collaboration with Advance HE, a higher education academy, as the training partner.
