MoE announces celebration of Shiksha Saptah from July 22 to 28, marks 4th anniversary of NEP 2020

NEW DELHI: In celebration of the 4th anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Department of School Education and Literacy will observe Shiksha Saptah from July 22 to July 28, 2024. This week-long event is designed to foster collaboration and highlight the educational reforms introduced by the NEP 2020 on the eve of its fourth anniversary. The initiative aims to engage and empower students, educators, school administrators, and communities through knowledge and learning, highlighting the value of education and literacy.

Each day of the week will highlight a unique theme, providing a platform for promoting educational reforms and engaging stakeholders. As per Sikshha Saptah schedule 2024, day 1 will focus on encouraging teachers to showcase LTM based on local context and use it in the classroom transaction. Day 2 will focus on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN), aiming to enhance awareness of the NIPUN Bharat Mission.

The Sikshha Saptah schedule 2024 as stated by Department of School Education and Literacy is given below.

Day 1, July 22: TLM (Teaching-Learning Material) Day
The inaugural day of Shiksha Saptah will be dedicated to Teaching-Learning Materials (TLM). Teachers across the country are encouraged to showcase TLM that is contextualized to local needs and incorporate it into their classroom teaching. This initiative aims to enhance teaching methods by utilizing resources that reflect the local context, thereby making learning more relevant and impactful.

Day 2, July 23: FLN Day
On the second day, the focus will be on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN). This day will aim to raise awareness among all stakeholders about the successful implementation of the NIPUN Bharat Mission. Various activities and discussions will be organized to highlight the importance of foundational skills in education and the strategies required for their effective implementation.

Day 3, July 24: Sports day
The third day will be dedicated to Sports, featuring competitions organized in collaboration with the Department of Sports, Department of Youth Affairs, National Service Scheme (NSS), and community members. This day will celebrate physical fitness and teamwork, encouraging students to participate in various sports activities and fostering a spirit of healthy competition.

Day 4, July 25: Cultural day
Cultural Day will be celebrated on the fourth day to promote unity and diversity among students. Special cultural events and activities will be organized to help students appreciate different cultures and traditions, enhancing their understanding of diversity and fostering a sense of community.

Day 5, July 26: Skilling and digital initiatives Day
The fifth day will focus on skilling and digital initiatives, reflecting on the evolving job market and the need for new skills. The day will include discussions on skill education aimed at building a competent and competitive workforce, as well as exploring how technology can be integrated into education to enhance classroom experiences. Key events will include sessions on skill development and the role of technology in education.

Day 6, July 27: Eco clubs for Mission LiFE, school nutrition Day
On the sixth day, attention will shift to environmental sustainability and school nutrition. New Eco Clubs will be established in schools, and a plantation drive under the #Plant4Mother initiative will be organized to strengthen the connection between students, their communities, and the environment. This day will also emphasize the importance of school nutrition in promoting students' health and well-being.

Day 7, July 28: Community involvement day

The final day of Shiksha Saptah will be dedicated to community involvement, featuring activities such as Tithi Bhojan and Vidyanjali. The goal is to foster collaboration with local communities, School Management Committees (SMCs), Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs), and Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs). The focus will be on encouraging the socio-emotional well-being of students and creating an ecosystem that supports skill development and community engagement.
