NEW DELHI: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has announced new appointments to the National Medical Commission (NMC) and its autonomous boards. The appointments will be in effect for four years, or until the respective appointees reach 70 years of age, whichever comes first.

As per the official press release, BN Gangadhar has been appointed as the Chairperson of the National Medical Commission. Gangadhar is currently serving as the president of the medical assessment and rating board.

Sanjay Behari will take over as the President of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB). He is currently serving as the director of Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram. Anil D’Cruz, the director of Oncology at Apollo hospital, has been appointed as a whole-time member of the Post-Graduate Medical Education Board.

The appointment committee of the cabinet has also appointed Rajendra Achyut Badwe, professor emeritus at Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai, as a part-time member of the Undergraduate Medical Education Board. His tenure is set for 2 years, until he attains the age of 70 years, or until further orders, whichever is earliest.

NBEMS warns of fake notices

The NBEMS has warned about fake notices circulating on social media regarding the revised schedule of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Postgraduate (NEET-PG 2024).

“The official websites of NBEMS are natboard.edu.in and https://nbe.edu.in NBEMS has no official handle/ channel on any social media platform including ‘X’. Candidates are advised to refer for any information about Examinations conducted by NBEMS only through these website links,” the official notice read.

NBEMS further informed that recipients should verify any emails, SMS, or social media messages claiming to be from NBEMS by checking corresponding updates on their website or through official emails.

If candidates encounter unscrupulous agents promising exam favours or question papers through spoofed communications, they are urged to report such incidents to NBEMS via their communication web portal or to local police for investigation.
