President to confer National Teachers’ Award 2024 to 82 teachers tomorrow; complete list
Teachers’ Day 2024: Each National Teachers’ Award carries a certificate of merit, a silver medal, and a cash prize of Rs 50,000.

NEW DELHI: President of India Droupadi Murmu will confer National Teachers’ Award 2024 to 82 selected teachers on September 5 at Vigyan Bhawan on the occasion of Teachers’ Day 2024. Every year, India celebrates the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, as National Teachers’ Day. On this day, awards are distributed to teachers to celebrate and recognise their contribution to the country and their commitment to improve the quality of education and lives of students.
The department of school education and literacy, ministry of education, has selected 50 teachers from across the country for this year’s teachers awards. The awardees were selected through a three-stage online process at district, state and national-level selection process administered by the department of school education and literacy.
Out of 50 selected teachers, 34 are males, 16 are female, 2 are differently-abled and 1 is working with Children with Special Needs (CWSN). Moreover, 16 teachers from the department of higher education and another 16 teachers from the ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship will also receive awards from the President tomorrow.
Each National Teachers’ Award carries a certificate of merit, a silver medal, and a cash award of Rs 50,000. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be interacting with the awardees, the ministry said.
“The National Educational Policy (NEP 2020) envisages incentives such as rewards and recognition to cultivate a culture of excellence in the education ecosystem. As such, in the year 2023, it was decided to institute two categories of awards for HEIs and Polytechnics under the umbrella of NAT, hitherto restricted to School teachers only,” it said. In line with the NEP 2020, the 16 select teachers are from polytechnics, state, and central universities.
