AI in Medical Education: NBEMS launches free online course for PG doctors, faculty; Harvard, Oxford on board

Faculty from national and international institutions such as Harvard University, University of Oxford, IISc Bengaluru, IIM Lucknow, among others will be part of the online programme.
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has launched a free online programme on artificial intelligence (AI) in medical education for postgraduate doctors and faculty. Interested medical professionals can apply through the official website at natboard.edu.in.
Notably, no technical or programming background is required and no fee will be charged by the medical board for the course.
As per the eligibility, the NBEMS current trainees, alumni (qualified 2020 session onwards), faculty of NBEMS accredited departments, and other professionals are eligible to apply.

NBEMS's online free course details
Faculty from national and international institutions such as Harvard University, University of Oxford, IISc Bengaluru, IIM Lucknow, among others will be part of the online programme.
“The programme aims to equip medical professionals with the knowledge and judgment required to critically evaluate, responsibly use, and safely integrate AI tools in clinical practice, education, and health systems in the Indian context,” the NBEMS said through an official notification.
The course will consist of LIVE online sessions, which will focus on clinical applicability, ethics, patient safety, and accountability, the board said. Participants will be taught around 20 modules over 6 months and the online programme will begin in January 2026.
Those who will successfully complete the online assessment module with at least 75% attendance of LIVE classes with attendance marked at both the start and end of sessions will be granted a digital course completion certificate.
