NEW DELHI, NOVEMBER 29: The National Testing Agency (NTA), conducting body of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) has released two public notices, extending the deadline of application form and inviting applications from PwD candidates. The registration facility will now be available till December 7 and candidates crossing the upper age limit are eligible to take the exam.
As per the notices, the candidates with age more 25 years (30 years for reserved and PwD candidates) can appear for the exam but the final decision on the status of eligibility will be decided by the Supreme Court. The next hearing will take place in January. The copy of the court order is shown here.
The NTA Notification following the directive is as follows
The PwD guidelines quoted by NTA are the same guidelines issued by MCI in August 2018. The regulation does not include candidates with low vision, and hearing disability of 40% or more are not allowed to appear for the medical entrance exam. In the previous session, these regulations were struck down by various courts. However, MCI has failed to declare such candidates eligible or in some cases provide PwD quota.
With regards to PwD regulations, MCI issued a notice on November 15 wherein the public opinion are asked by November 30 to take an action in the matter. In accordance with the notice issued by NTA, the PwD candidates are suggested to fill the application and if there are changes made in the regulation then these changes can be updated by the registered candidates when the correction facility will be available.
NTA had earlier scheduled to close the registration window on November 30, which has now been extended. The last date to submit application fee is December 8.
