NEW DELHI: Due to the COVID 19 pandemic and a strict ban on travel from one country to another, a large number of expatriate aspirants living in the Gulf countries have been worried about appearing in the National Eligibility Entrance Test- NEET.
Taking this into consideration, the Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan sought the intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in designating the entrance examination centers in the UAE and other Gulf countries for NEET and many other entrance examinations.
As per the reports, Vijayan said, “It is in this context that Kerala has asked for entrance examination centres in the Gulf countries.”
Indian aspirants request exam centres in UAE
Candidates located in UAE see no opportunity to travel down to India for the entrance examination and, therefore, requested the National Testing Agency (NTA) to enable the facility of NEET exam centres in the country. Since NEET is a pen and paper-based examination, students requested the authorities to conduct the examination in their respective cities.
As per the NTA Director General, Vineet Joshi, if in case the circumstances will not improve in the near future, the authority will try to conduct medical examination in the respective country.
NEET 2020
NEET 2020 is scheduled to be conducted on July 26 for admission to 82,926 MBBS, 26,949 BDS, 52,720 AYUSH and 525 BVSc & AH offered in colleges of India. Since, COVID-19 situation is still at a high degree, it would not be possible for such candidates to travel to India for the entrance examination.
