NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, commonly known as NEET, in pen and paper mode every year. The entrance exam is India's single largest exam for UG medical courses which is conducted for over 15 lakh candidates who aspire to become doctors. NTA is expected to announce the official dates for NEET 2021 session shortly at ntaneet.nic.in. As per the latest updates on the medical entrance exam, aspirants are demanding clarity over NEET 2021 exam dates. Meanwhile, candidates who wish to appear for the medical exam must check the eligibility criteria set by the authorities for NEET 2021.

Who can apply for NEET 2021?

Mentioned below are some eligibility parameters for candidates who are interested to appear for NEET 2021.

NEET 2021: Eligibility for nationality

  • Indian Nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizen of India (OCIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and foreign nationals aspirants are eligible to apply

NEET 2021: Eligibility for academics

  • Candidates who have passed Class 12 or equivalent with physics, chemistry, biology/ biotechnology and English as core subjects from a recognized board will be eligible to sit for the medical entrance exam.

  • Class 12 or equivalent appearing aspirants are also eligible to apply for NEET.

NEET 2021: Age limit

  • Candidates must have completed 17 years as on December 31, 2021.

  • Since the decision on the upper age limit to appear for NEET is pending, therefore, General category candidates of 25 years or above are provisionally eligible to apply for the medical entrance exam.

NEET 2021: Minimum qualifying percentile

  • NEET eligibility marks in Class 12 are considered aggregate marks only for physics, chemistry, biology (PCB) subjects. To appear for NEET 2021, candidates belonging to the general category should have secured 50%, for OBC candidates, the minimum percentage is 40% and for PwD, it is 45%.

NEET 2021 eligibility for NRI/Foreign students

  • As per the NTA guidelines, the last examination passed by NRI/ foreign students must be equivalent to Class 12 qualification in their respective country.

  • Candidates should have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and must have passed the theory and practical test in each of these subjects as well as English in the qualifying examination.

NEET Eligibility Criteria 2021 – Number of attempts

There is no restriction on the number of attempts for NEET 2021. Candidates will be allowed to appear for the entrance exam as many times as they would like to only if they are eligible.
