NEW DELHI: Despite the top four rank holders securing the same marks, the National Testing Agency (NTA) announced Tanishka as National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG 2022) topper.

Tanishka from Rajasthan bagged All India Rank 1 by securing 715 marks in NEET UG 2022. Interestingly, three more candidates secured the same marks and percentile scores but couldn’t secure NEET AIR 1. NEET 2022 toppers list was announced this year based on tie-breaking criteria which included new rules. Tanishka is also the first OBC-NCL candidate to secure NEET AIR 1 in past three years since the NTA started conducting the NEET exam.

Vatsa Ashish Batra from Delhi, and Hrishikesh Nagbhushan Gangule, Rucha Pawashe from Karnataka secured rank 2, 3 and 4 respectively. These students also secured 715 marks or 99.9997733 points, the same as the AIR 1 Tanishka.
In 2021, the NTA had removed the provision of giving priority to candidates older in age from the tie-breaking policy. This resulted in three candidates scoring NEET Rank 1. Mrinal Kutteri, Tanmay Gupta and Karthika G Nair were last year’s NEET toppers.
However in 2020, despite securing the same marks as the topper, Akansha Singh bagged second rank and Soyeb Aftab from Odisha was announced as the NEET topper due to the age factor in tie-breaking criteria.
The NTA released the NEET toppers list based on the tie-breaking criteria given below for candidates securing equal marks/ percentile scores in the NEET 2022.
