Following the NEET UG paper leak and irregularities in results last year, the education ministry created a high-level committee that suggested changes in NEET 2025.

NEET 2025 changes

The NTA may introduce several changes in NEET 2025 based on the proposals submitted by the panel. Interested candidates can have a look at the expected NEET 2025 changes below.

NEET 2025 in hybrid mode

The seven-member committee led by former ISRO chief K Radhakrishnan has proposed conducting the NEET 2025 exam in a hybrid mode. In case, an entirely online exam is not feasible, the committee recommends providing NEET 2025 question paper digitally, while responses can be marked on paper.

NEET 2025 in two phases

The expert committee has recommended conducting the NEET 2025 exam in two phases, similar to the JEE Main exam. Last year, several paper leaks and mismanagement were reported in the NEET 2024 exam. Conducting NEET 2025 exam in two phases will help in better management. If NEET 2025 is conducted in two phases, it may also reduce the exam stress among candidates.

NEET 2025: Limit on number of attempts

The expert committee has recommended putting a limit on NEET attempts. Presently, there is no restriction on the number of attempts for NEET. However, as per panel suggestion putting a cap on the NEET attempt will help in better management of exams. Candidates are also expected to become more serious with their NEET preparation too.

However, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has written to PM Narendra Modi urging an extra NEET attempt for Covid-19 affected candidates.
