NEW DELHI: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has informed the Supreme Court that the special stray vacancy round for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2021 can't be conducted, reported Live Law. According to MCC, the software which was being used for conducting online NEET PG 2021 counselling is closed. As per the reports, MCC stated that the preparation of NEET PG 2022 counselling has commenced and two academic sessions cannot run concurrently.

The Supreme Court had pulled up MCC for leaving more than 1450 seats vacant in NEET PG 2021 counselling and asked MCC to file an affidavit on the total vacant seats and the reasons for the vacancy. The petitions were filed by doctors who appeared in NEET PG 2021 exam and participated in the counselling procedure.

One of the petitions was filed by Astha Goel and others through advocate Tanvi Dubey. The petition sought a direction to MCC to conduct a special stray round of counselling so as to facilitate the candidates with an opportunity to participate in the existing vacant seats after the conduct of the stray vacancy round of the All India Quota (AIQ), and to provide the exact number of vacant seats after the conduct of the stray vacancy round of the AIQ.
