NEW DELHI: Following the advancement of the National Eligibility Entrance Test - Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2024 exam date, aspirants and doctors have taken social media by storm. Many are questioning the logic behind the decision while others are concerned about its impact on students preparing for the exam.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) announced on March 20 that NEET PG 2024 will now be held on June 23. Earlier, the PG entrance exam was scheduled for July 7. The decision to advance the exam date was taken during a meeting, NMC informed.

Initially, the NEET PG exam was supposed to be held on March 3, however, it was postponed to July 7 after the commission received several representations from the aspirants.

An advocate and child rights activist expressed concern about the advancement and said in a post, “NMC took survey of students and kept the NEET PG 2024 exam in July to accommodate more students. We supported their stand. Students were also happy after this decision. But now the exam is rescheduled to June and students are again disturbed.”

All India Students’ Dental Association found the ‘sudden’ rescheduling quite puzzling. It posted, “The #NMC initially scheduled the #NEETPG2024 exam in July to accommodate more students, a decision we endorsed. This brought relief to students. However, the sudden rescheduling to June caused distress among students leaving us puzzled about reasons behind these frequent changes.”

A pharmacy student reacted to the news and wrote on X ,”Neet PG exam was to be held on 7th July, the date of which has now been reduced to 23rd June. I am looking at the first exam whose date has been advanced.”

A doctor asked the logic behind advancing the exam date. First postponed, now advanced, what is the logic behind this, he said. “TBH, They consider this as a game, They'll never know what students are going through. They are getting cursed by lots of students,” said another doctor in a post on X.

A user said, “Even a primary school will conduct exams properly but not NBEMS,” while another urged union health minister, “mansukhmandviya sir want to say only one thing please once for all consider doctors human and not circus animal. Postponing than preponing the exam. We are preparing for exams atleast can expect final dates in advance without changes.”
