NEET PG 2025 on August 3 in single shift: Supreme Court accepts NBEMS proposal

The Supreme Court has granted permission for the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to hold the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test - postgraduate (NEET PG 2025) on August 3. The top court earlier directed the board to conduct the exam in a single shift to ensure transparency in the entrance exam.

A bench of Justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and Augustine George Masih heard the NEET PG postponement plea today. The NBEMS postponed the NEET PG exam date a few days before the SC order to hold the exam in a single shift. It said that the decision was taken to increase the number of exam centres and infrastructure.

Following this, the NBEMS sought permission from the top court to conduct the exam on August 3. The court has accepted the proposal, however, clarified that no further extension will be granted.

Aspirants and doctor groups have long opposed recurring delay in NEET PG admissions. A similar trend was seen last year as well, when the exam was postponed thrice and cancelled hours before the exam. The lack of transparency and non-disclosure of answer key and raw marks added to their frustration.

While the NBEMS decision to conduct the exam single shift brought some relief to students, the postponement is still a point of concern. The internship completion cut-off date is July 31 for NEET PG 2025. The board has not announced any extension in the cut-off deadline.
