NEET PG 2025 Seat Matrix: SC petition challenges cut-off

The release of the NEET PG 2025 round 3 comes amid legal scrutiny over the NEET PG 2025 cut-off reduction. A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Supreme Court challenging the decision to reduce the qualifying cut-off to zero and allow negative marks for reserved category candidates.

The petition states that lowering the cut-off undermines the purpose of NEET PG as a merit-based national examination.

As per the revised cut-off approved by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, SC, ST, and OBC candidates with scores as low as minus 40 marks have become eligible for counselling.

The government states that the cut-off was lowered to fill nearly 18,000 vacant MD and MS seats, a figure reflected in the large number of clear and virtual vacancies shown in the Round 3 seat matrix.
