MCC issues NEET PG counselling round 3 allotment list as SC dismisses cancellation plea

NEW DELHI: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has issued a list of candidates who have been admitted under the National Eligibility Entrance Test - Postgraduate (NEET PG) counselling 2024 up to round 3, as the Supreme Court dismissed the plea to cancel the admissions. Candidates have been asked to check the list and contact the college immediately in case their name is missing.

Quashing the petition, the court emphasized that allowing three students now could set a precedent, leading to similar requests from more candidates in the future.

"It’s truly unfortunate that the court dismissed the NEET PG 2024 plea without fully addressing candidates grievances. The rigid stance taken, despite clear procedural lapses by apex bodies, leaves deserving aspirants in distress. Candidates may lose faith in the system, potentially abandoning their PG pursuits due to the chaotic counseling process. The lack of accountability for these errors underscores the need for systemic reforms to protect students futures and ensure justice. Such decisions demotivate young professionals striving for excellence in medical education," said medical education activist Brijesh Sutaria.

The NEET PG allotment list mentions the roll number, name, allotted institute name, and subject allotted to the candidates who have joined up to 11:30 am on February 7, 2025.

“All candidates who have reported to the allotted college and have taken admission should make sure that their name is present in the list. In case, names of any joined candidates are not included in the list, the candidates should immediately contact the allotted college,” the MCC said in an official notice.

NEET PG Counselling: Revised seat matrix, extension

Recently, the National Medical Commission (NMC) revised the NEET PG seat matrix amid the Supreme Court’s notice to the centre and others on a plea by aspirants seeking cancellation of MCC NEET PG round 3 counselling 2024. Students have alleged seat blocking and irregularities in allotted seats due to delay in Madhya Pradesh (MP) NEET PG counselling.

MCC is expected to extend the round 3 reporting deadline till February 9 as the Karnataka High Court has cancelled the state allotments to candidates who were already allotted AIQ seats. These aspirants have been allowed to join the seats allotted in MCC counselling, letting the petitioners participate in the Karnataka NEET PG counselling stray-vacancy round while carrying forward the left-over seats.

The central counselling committee had already extended the last date for reporting to the colleges allotted to the round 3 candidates till February 4 following requests from several state quota aspirants.
