New Delhi, April 5: To fill the vacant seats left after the conclusion of NEET PG counselling, Medical Council of India in consultation with the Central Government has decided to lower the NEET PG 2019 cutoff by six percentile. With this, the cutoff for general category aspirants will be 44 percentile, while for SC/ST/OBC and PWD candidates, it is 34 and 39, respectively. NBE is requested to prepare a revised merit list for all states considering the lowered percentile and corresponding marks. A tweet from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare confirmed the information regarding the lowering of NEET PG qualifying percentile.

Candidates set to benefit from the move

With a lowered cutoff, numerous candidates who were earlier out of the race for an MS/MD/PGD seat will now be able to take admission in the most coveted medical colleges of the country. All the state counselling authorities have been advised to grant MD/MS admissions on the basis of revised cutoff percentile. National Board of Examination will be releasing the corresponding scores to the revised cutoff. A separate scorecard will also be released for the candidates who have thus become eligible for the NEET PG admission.

The result of NEET PG 2019 was declared on January 31 therefore, the revised cutoff has been released after much delay, freeing candidates from the tenterhooks. Interestingly, many were expecting the release of a revised cutoff, as last year as well, a revised cutoff was released. Some 18,000 candidates had benefited from the lowered cutoff. Previous year’s cutoff can be checked in the table below.
