The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has allowed resignation with forfeiture of security deposit from the National Eligibility Entrance Test for Super Specialty (NEET SS) counselling 2025 for the candidates who have been allotted seats in the Institute of National Importance Super-Speciality Entrance Test (INI SS) counselling. The committee took the decision after receiving various representations from the SS candidates who participated in the counselling process.

Around 115 candidates have been allowed to resign their seats allotted in the round 1 and 2 of NEET SS counselling after scrutiny of their documents.

“MCC is in receipt of many resignation requests from SS candidates who have been allotted seats in Round-1 and Round-2 of SS Counselling 2024. In this regard, it is stated that such candidates can resign from their respective seats With Forfeiture of Security Deposit. However, such candidates will not be able to participate in further rounds of SS Counselling 2024,” the MCC stated in an official notification.

The committee asked INI allotted candidates who wish to exit the admission process to resign their seat allotted through MCC by 5 pm of June 24, 2025.

MCC also noted that the stray round of NEET SS counselling 2025 will be an upgradation round. Candidates joined so far can upgrade themselves from round-2 to stray round. It hence advised candidates to take an informed decision whether they want to resign from their round-1 or round-2 seat or want to upgrade.

NEET SS counselling rules

However, there will be no resignation in the stray round of NEET SS counselling. If a candidate is not upgraded and the earlier seat is retained, then the candidate will have to continue studying on the retained seat.

“Candidates who wish to resign their seat may approach their allotted college to resign and collect their original documents within stipulated time. It should be ensured by the candidates that the resignation letter is generated ‘Online’ from the MCC portal by the college authorities. Any offline resignation taken by the college will be treated as ‘Null & Void’,” MCC further stated.
