The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has revised the round 2 schedule for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Super Speciality (NEET SS) counselling. MCC has extended the registration and choice-filling deadlines. Besides the revised schedule, the committee has added 153 vacant in-service super speciality seats from Tamil Nadu to the round 2 seat matrix following a Supreme Court order. MCC has also withdrawn 8 seats from 5 institutes across the country.

Registration facility will remain open till August 5, 3 pm, while candidates can complete the payment process until 6 pm. Choice filling will continue until August 6, 2 pm and choice locking facility will be available from August 5 to August 6. The committee will process seat allotment on August 6 and announce round 2 result on August 7.

153 vacant in-service super speciality seats from Tamil Nadu have been added to the round 2 seat matrix. According to the notice issued on August 4, 2026, the Tamil Nadu State Selection Committee reverted these seats to MCC in compliance with the Supreme Court's July 28, 2026 order in Tamil Nadu Medical Officers Association & Anr. vs Union of India & Ors. The committee said candidates can exercise their choices for these newly added seats during the ongoing round 2 choice-filling period.

Seats withdrawn from round 2 seat matrix

Earlier, MCC had announced the withdrawal of eight super speciality seats from the round 2 seat matrix following requests from participating institutes. These seats will no longer be available for allotment during the counselling process.

The withdrawn seats belong to the Open category under the All India quota. MCC has directed all participating institutes and colleges to treat Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays as working days to ensure that the counselling process is completed within the stipulated timeline.
