NEW DELHI: Lockdown 4.0 was declared on May 18, 2020 with no allowance on travel especially abroad. With the announcement of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) date, which is July 26, 2020, NEET aspirants located abroad see no possibility of travelling down to India to answer the single national level medical entrance examination for undergraduate courses held once a year. Thus, such candidates have requested the National Testing Agency (NTA) to enable the facility of NEET exam centres in UAE. To know more about it read below.

Why exam centres in UAE?

Hundreds of Indian origin candidates residing in the United Arab Emirates register for NEET every year. In general scenario, they choose their hometown/city as their priority for allocation of test centres. However, this year due to the ruckus created with the outbreak of COVID-19 candidates see very less possibility for themselves to fly down to India to appear for the test. Since NEET 2020 will be conducted in pen paper mode, aspirants from UAE have requested the authorities to consider having a test centre in UAE.

Live session with Vineet Joshi, NTA DG

In a live session by Careers360 with Joshi a significant number of candidates raised the same query in the comments section. Answering this query, Joshi said that they are expecting the situations to ease by the time the exam is conducted. Earlier, there were no NEET exam centres outside India, however, ‘If situation demands we will give some provision to students to give exam there’

NEET 2020 upcoming events

The next major exam related event for NEET aspirants is the release of admit card. As informed by Joshi, the authorities are preparing to release the admit card 21 days prior to the conduct of the exam. He added that all guidelines related to exam day, safety, hygiene will be mentioned in the hall ticket. As far as the results are concerned, Joshi said ‘From our side we will try to release the results as early as possible. We will try to declare it within 15 days, so that counselling can happen in shortest possible time and admissions start.
