NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has opened the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET UG 2023) registration. Aspirants will be able to submit NEET UG application form 2023 till April 6, 2023. The NEET 2023 notification contains details of application form, exam pattern, eligibility criteria, syllabus at the NTA official website, neet.nta.nic.in 2023 or nta.ac.in.

The NEET UG 2023 application fee has been increased for all categories. The fee for the General category candidates is Rs 1,700, for the general-Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) category candidate is Rs 1,600. The Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) and third gender category candidates need to pay Rs 1,000. For the Non-Residential Indian (NRI) category candidates it is Rs 9,500.

The NEET UG exam 2023 will be held on May 7 in 485 exam cities in India and 14 exam cities abroad. Last year, the exam was held in 543 exam cities.

Aspirants who wish to pursue MBBS, BDS and other medical courses in India will have to appear for the NEET UG exam 2023 to take admission. Candidates will have to check the eligibility criteria and keep the important documents ready before filling in the NEET UG application form 2023.

Students need passport-size photograph, postcard size picture, signature, left-hand thumb impression, Class 10 passing certificate, category certificate, PwBD certificate, citizenship certificate for registering at neet.nta.nic.in 2023.

NEET UG 2023 registration: Uploading photograph guidelines

  • Passport size Photograph (size: 10 kb to 200 kb)
  • Post Card size photograph (4”X6”) (Size: 10 kb to 200 kb)
  • The photographs must be taken on or after 01.01.2023 preferably indicating clearly the name of the candidate along with the date of taking the photograph
  • Same passport size and postcard size photographs are to be used for uploading with online application form and for pasting on attendance sheet at the examination centre, during counselling  and admission
  • Photographs should not be with cap or goggles
  • The focus needs to be on the face (80% face coverage, ears clearly visible, white background)
  • Spectacles are allowed only if being used regularly
  • Polaroid and Computer-generated photos are not acceptable
  • Applications not complying with these instructions or with unclear photographs are liable to be rejected 
  • Application without photographs shall be rejected
  • The photographs need not be attested
  • Candidates are advised to keep six to eight passport size and four to six postcard size (4”X6”) colour photographs with white backgrounds
  • Candidates may note that if the photographs uploaded are found to be fabricated i.e. de-shaped or seem to be hand-made or computer made, the application of the candidate will be rejected and the same would be considered as using Unfair Means and the candidate would be dealt with accordingly
  • In case someone else’s photographs have been uploaded, the candidature shall be cancelled and the case will be considered as an Unfair Means Case. Criminal action as per laws of the land shall also be initiated.

NEET UG score to be used for admission to BSc Nursing programme

NTA has also notified that NEET score will be used to shortlist candidates for admission to BSc nursing courses. “MNS (Military Nursing Service) aspirants seeking admission to BSc Nursing Course being conducted at Armed Forces Medical Service Hospitals for the year 2023 are required to qualify NEET. The NEET score will be used for shortlisting for selection to the four year BSc Nursing course,” NTA said in an official notification.

In NEET UG 2023 entrance exam, if two or more applicants taking the exam score the same NEET marks or percentile score, NTA will follow a tie-breaking methodology to break the deadlock in this order --

  • Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in biology (botany and zoology) in the test, followed by,

  • Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in chemistry in the test, followed by,

  • Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in physics in the test, followed by,

NTA NEET UG 2023 syllabus

NMC (National Medical Commission) has notified the syllabus of NEET UG  2023. The question paper will be based on the given syllabus which is available on the NMC website- nmc.org.in/neet/neet-ug. Furthermore, to rationalize the decision of reduction in the syllabus by various school education boards, the NTA has taken a decision to provide choice in section “B” for each of the four subjects.

  • The facility of scribe, in case he or she has a physical limitation and a scribe is essential to write the examination on his or her behalf, being so certified in the aforesaid format by a CMO, civil surgeon, medical superintendent of a government health care institution.
  • Compensatory time of one hour five minutes for examination of three hours twenty minutes duration for PwBD candidate (having a physical limitation to write) will be given, whether such candidate uses the facility of scribe or not.

  • No correction facility ‘including category change’ will be given at any stage after the registration.
  • Be extremely careful in filling in the application form. Candidates can edit or modify any information before submitting each section. Check again before pressing the ‘SUBMIT’ button.
  • Read instructions carefully about photographs, signature, left and right hands fingers and thumb impressions, and all certificates before uploading.
  • ‘Mobile Number’ and ‘E-mail ID’ need to be verified through OTP. Candidates need to understand that this is a very important step.
  • Same ‘Mobile Number’ and ‘E-mail ID’ will be utilized for counselling purpose. Students are required to keep it alive and not close it before the counselling process ends.
  • If the ‘Mobile Number’ is international, then an additional number also needs to be provided.
  • Choose the question paper ‘Medium’ carefully as it cannot be changed at a later stage.

Candidates that have passed or are currently appearing in Class 12 or an equivalent exam are eligible for NEET UG 2023. Candidates must have also taken Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology, and English subjects in Class 12. There is no upper age limit to register, however, candidates who have completed 17 years of age can apply.

  • Go to neet.nta.nic.in
  • Click on the NEET registration 2023 link and fill out the form.
  •  Next, log in again and fill up the NEET application form.
  • Upload scanned documents and pay NEET UG application fee.
  • Submit the registration form.
