NEST 2025 result out on nestexam.in; merit list to be prepared based on best three subject scores

The National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar, has announced the National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) 2025 result today, July 10. Candidates can download the NEST 2025 scorecard through the official website at nestexam.in. The NEST 2025 scorecard includes key details such as the candidate's name, rank, roll number, photograph, percentile, total marks, category, qualifying percentile, category rank, and the number of candidates who appeared and qualified.

According to the information bulletin, the merit list for admission to the five-year integrated Master of Science (MSc) programmes— MSc in Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, and Physical Sciences—at the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar, and University of Mumbai - Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS), Mumbai, will be prepared by the respective institutes as per the official criteria set by the NEST committee.

The NEST 2025 examination was conducted in a single session and included four sections: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics, with each section carrying 60 marks. For preparing the merit list, only the best three out of the four section scores will be taken into account, making the total effective score 180.

NEST Result 2025: Eligibility criteria for merit list inclusion

To be eligible for inclusion in the merit list, candidates will have to meet two conditions—Section-wise Minimum Admissible Score (SMAS) and Minimum Admissible Percentile (MAP). SMAS is calculated as 20% of the average of the top 100 scores in a particular section. Relaxations are applied to reserved categories.

In addition to meeting the SMAS, candidates are also required to achieve the MAP. The cutoff percentile is 95 for general category candidates, 90 for those in the OBC category, and 75 for SC, ST, and PwD candidates. Those who do not meet the MAP will not be assigned a merit rank, even if they qualify under the SMAS criteria.
