Environment, Energy, Insolvency: New LLB, LLM, certificate courses launched by law schools

Top law schools, including RGNUL Patiala and NALSAR Hyderabad, as well as IGNOU and IIM Bodh Gaya have launched online and offline law courses.
NEW DELHI: India’s top law colleges launched a host of degree and certificate programmes, both online and offline, over the past year. Here’s a list along with the programmes’ eligibility criteria, duration and course features.
Law degrees
Integrated BBA LLB (Hons)
Institution: BITS Law School, Mumbai
Duration: 5 years
Eligibility: Class 12 or equivalent
The BBA LLB (Hons) programme offers a unique blend of social sciences, business and management, with a base of legal discipline. This integrated programme helps students to become innovative, well-rounded legal professionals.
Three-year LLB (Hons)
Institution: National Law University, Odisha
Duration: 3 years
Eligibility: Graduate from any discipline
In order to make legal education more accessible, NLU Odisha has started a three-year LLB course that entails different aspects of constitution, international law, labour laws, corporate law, property law and others.
LLM in Insolvency and Bankruptcy Laws
Institution: NALSAR University of Law
Duration: 2 years
Eligibility: LLB or any bachelor’s degree
The LLM course launched in collaboration with Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs focusses on insolvency and bankruptcy laws and issues specific to India. The course aims to fill the vacuum of knowledge and tools in the field of insolvency and equip new-age professionals to assist in liquidation cases.

Executive, diploma law courses
Executive programme in Corporate Law
Institution: Indian Institute of Management Bodh Gaya
Duration: 10 months
Eligibility: For working professionals
This course aims to equip working professionals with an understanding of corporate laws and governance. The curriculum includes regulatory issues, financial strategies and legal prudence.
Postgraduate diploma in Environmental Management and Law
Institution: Indira Gandhi National Open University
Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: Graduation in any discipline
The course aims to equip lawyers, activists, academics, judges, researchers and others in creating a more socially conscious environment. The programme focuses on providing practical guidance tools, law models and best practices and model indicators.
E-Masters in Energy Policy and Regulation
Institution: Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar
Duration: 2 years
Eligibility: Bachelors or masters degree in any discipline
The objective of the course is to address the skill development gap essential for the energy and power segment. The curriculum includes power sector reforms and regulations, economics of power sector and tariff philosophy along with focus on capstone projects.

Law certificate courses
Certificate course on International Law
Institution: Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law
Duration: Twenty-nine hours
Eligibility: Open to all
RGNUL aims to sensitise students and researchers about the ethos and principles of international criminal law through this course. The course aims to create awareness about principles of international criminal laws and its application by international criminal tribunals along with understanding the legal regulations of international criminal justice.

Study abroad
Joint LLM/MA in Environment Justice in South Asia
Institution: School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London
Duration: 1 year
Eligibility: Four-year degree programme for Indian students
The course provides a unique learning experience in environment law with reference to South Asia and its application. The programme also helps students learn research tools specific to environment justice and laws.
