NExT mock test cancelled; registration fee to be refunded
Candidates belonging to the General and OBC categories had to register for NExT mock exam by paying Rs 2,000.

NEW DELHI: The mock exam for the National Exit Test (NExT) has been cancelled. Announcing that the NExT mock test set to be held on July 28 stands cancelled, a National Medical Commission (NMC)’s official said that the registration fee will be refunded.
Candidates belonging to the General or OBC category had to pay an application fee of Rs 2,000 while the candidates belonging to the SC, ST, EWS category had to register by paying a fee of Rs 1,000 to appear for the NExT mock test. The PwBD candidates were exempted from paying the application fee. The commission had been criticised for the mock test fee by students and doctors.

Mock will be cancelled and fee refunded.
Earlier on July 13, NMC had deferred NExT exam till further notice on the advice of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The mock test was scheduled for the students to have an idea before appearing for the actual NExT exam 2023. The AIIMS NExT exam 2023 will be conducted in two steps – step 1 and step 2. While NExT step 1 will be a computer-based examination, NExT step 2 will be a practical/clinical examination.
NExT will replace the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) PG for admission to postgraduate programmes and for practicing medicine in the country. NExT will begin with the batch passing in 2024 and will have to be taken by all undergraduate MBBS students.
