NID DAT 2027 registration begins for B.Des, M.Des; apply by November 30

The National Institute of Design (NID) has commenced the NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT) 2027 registration process for admission to the Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) and 5.5-year Professional Education Master of Design (M.Des.) Integrated Pathway programmes for the academic session 2027-28. Candidates can fill the NID DAT 2027 application form through the official admissions website, admissions.nid.edu.

The last date for submitting the NID DAT 2027 application with the prescribed fee is November 30, 2026, up to 11:59 pm IST. NID has scheduled the DAT Prelims 2027 for December 20, 2026. The DAT Prelims will be followed by DAT Mains for shortlisted candidates.

The 5.5-year Professional Education M.Des. (Integrated Pathway) is offered at NID Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Gandhinagar. The programme covers 15 design disciplines under five design streams. The regular M.Des. programme is a separate 2.5-year programme offered at NID Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Gandhinagar.

NID DAT 2027: Important dates

The application dates and DAT Prelims date are common to the B.Des./Integrated M.Des. and regular M.Des. admission processes. The institute has said that the schedule may be changed in unforeseen circumstances.

NID DAT 2027 application fee

Candidates applying to the B.Des. and 5.5-year Integrated M.Des. programmes shall have to pay the following application fee. For the regular M.Des. programme at NID Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Gandhinagar, the fee is charged per discipline. Candidates applying for more than one discipline will have to pay the applicable fee for each discipline.

The application fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. Bank transaction or convenience charges are extra.

NID DAT 2027: Steps to register

Candidates can follow these steps to complete the NID DAT 2027 application:

• Visit the official NID admissions website, admissions.nid.edu.
• Read the eligibility criteria, seat details, test centres and reservation rules in the Admissions Handbook.
• Click on the Sign Up/Registration option.
• Select the programme, nationality and category.
• Enter a valid email ID and active mobile number and complete OTP verification.
• Use the login credentials sent to the registered email ID.
• Log in using the registered email ID, date of birth and password.
• Fill in the required personal and educational details.
• Upload the photograph, signature and applicable category certificates.
• Verify the details entered in the application form.
• Pay the application fee through the available online payment options.
• Submit the form and download or print the auto-generated application form for future reference.

NID DAT 2027: Documents required

Candidates should keep the following documents ready, as applicable:

• Recent passport-size colour photograph
• Scanned signature
• GEN-EWS certificate, if applicable
• OBC-NCL certificate, if applicable
• SC/ST caste or tribe certificate, if applicable
• PwD certificate and/or UDID card, if applicable
• Third gender certificate/identity card, if applicable
• First and last page of a valid passport for overseas candidates

The photograph and signature have to be uploaded in the prescribed format and size. Category certificates must also meet the requirements specified by NID. Earlier, NID opened the application process for PhD admission on the official website.
