The bridge course is mandatory for eligible B.Ed.-qualified primary teachers appointed between June 2018 and August 2023 to retain their service eligibility

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has extended the last date for the 6 Months Certificate Course (Bridge) in Primary Teacher Education. Applicants can register themselves till July 19, 2026. Candidates can fill out the application form on the official website of NIOS Bridge at bridge.nios.ac.in.

The course is designed to support the professional development of teachers holding a B.Ed. qualification who wish to continue teaching at the primary school level.
The official notice reads, “all eligible in-service primary teachers who have not registered earlier are advised to complete their registration within the stipulated period. No request for registration shall be entertained after the closure of the portal.”

The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) will develop the bridge course under the overall supervision of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Primary teachers whose appointments were made on the basis of a B.Ed. qualification between June 28, 2018, and August 11, 2023, are required to complete this course to continue their eligibility for service.

Those who fail to complete the course within the timeline prescribed by the concerned educational authorities will have their appointments rendered invalid. The bridge course is intended only to retain existing employment and will not be considered a valid qualification for future recruitment as a primary teacher.
