NIOS extends registration deadline for 6-month bridge course till July 19; apply at bridge.nios.ac.in

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has extended the last date for the 6 Months Certificate Course (Bridge) in Primary Teacher Education. Applicants can register themselves till July 19, 2026. Candidates can fill out the application form on the official website of NIOS Bridge at bridge.nios.ac.in.

The course is designed to support the professional development of teachers holding a B.Ed. qualification who wish to continue teaching at the primary school level.

The official notice reads, “all eligible in-service primary teachers who have not registered earlier are advised to complete their registration within the stipulated period. No request for registration shall be entertained after the closure of the portal.”

NIOS 6 Months Certificate Bridge Course 2026: Steps to register

Candidates can register for the Bridge course by following the steps given below:

• Visit the official registration portal of bridge at bridge.nios.ac.in
• On the homepage, click on the “enroll now”
• Read all the instructions and click on proceed
• Fill out the basic details and complete the registration form with accurate personal and professional details
• Upload the documents (if required), make the payment and then submit
• Download the confirmation page and take a printout for future reference

Documents required

The documents required for the NIOS registration are as follows:

• Passport size color photograph
• Signature
• B. Ed. Marksheet / Certificate
• Appointment letter
• Self declaration certificate duly certified by the concerned school principal

Eligibility criteria

The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) will develop the bridge course under the overall supervision of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Primary teachers whose appointments were made on the basis of a B.Ed. qualification between June 28, 2018, and August 11, 2023, are required to complete this course to continue their eligibility for service.

Those who fail to complete the course within the timeline prescribed by the concerned educational authorities will have their appointments rendered invalid. The bridge course is intended only to retain existing employment and will not be considered a valid qualification for future recruitment as a primary teacher.
