NITK Surathkal hosts international conference on smart sustainable energy

NEW DELHI: The National Institute of Technology (NIT-K) Surathkal's Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering inaugurated a two-day international conference titled Advancements in Smart Sustainable Energy Sources Technologies and Systems (ASSETS) 2024. The inaugural ceremony was held today, March 11 at 9:30 am in the LHC-C, NITK Surathkal.

ASSETS 2024 serves as a platform for researchers, industry professionals, and enthusiasts in the energy sector to exchange ideas and explore the latest advancements in smart and sustainable energy sources, the institute said.

The chief guest for the inaugural ceremony was K Gopakumar, serving as the professor at the department of electronic systems engineering, in the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore.

During the inaugural ceremony professor of IISc Bangalore, emphasized the importance of passion, self-directed learning, and dedication to success in the field. He encouraged participants to take full advantage of the educational opportunities offered by India's Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).

Speaking about the event, the director of NIT-K, B Ravi, emphasized the value of networking and open-mindedness. He encouraged the attendees to amalgamate the philosophies of the western and eastern world to pave the way for a smart and sustainable future. He also stressed the importance of translating ideas into tangible products through patents and industry collaborations, which he believes is crucial for innovation and progress.

The head of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) department at NITK, D N Gaonkar, along with the organizing secretaries S Karthikeyan and Yashwant Kashyap, and other faculty members, were present at the inauguration ceremony.
