NEW DELHI: With just a few weeks left for the commencement of academic session, the National Law University Tripura has cancelled the NLU admission 2022 on the grounds of state domicile quota. The academic session of the first national law university in Tripura was scheduled to start from January 4, 2023.
“The process initiated for the Academic session 2022-23 is hereby cancelled on the grounds of state domicile quota and the entrance/ admission fees, if any, collected or deposited be refunded to all the selected students immediately,” the latest notice from the NLU Tripura read.
According to the schedule issued earlier, the academic session for the first year law students were to begin from January 4. The institute started the admission to the five-year integrated BA LLB (Hons), and one year Master of Laws (LLM) programmes based on the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT 2022) scores.
The NLU Tripura released a third waiting list for admission recently and the shortlisted candidates were allowed to deposit fees till December 7, 2022.
The NLU admission 2022 to fill 60 seats in Tripura campus was completed in two months. Nevertheless, the sudden cancellation of the whole admission process has left students disappointed.

The first national law university in Tripura was inaugurated by the President of India Droupadi Murmu in October 2022 and the academic session was set to begin in January 2023.
Expressing concern over the cancellation of admission, a student wrote, "NLU TRIPURA cancels the candidature of 60 students for its first session scheduled for Jan 2023 which was recently inaugurated by the honorable President of India, citing vague and inappropriate reasons. Students feels devastated for the same. Govt raises hand from liability.'

“NLU tripura canceled whole admission of 2022 batch they published notification in their website stating about cancellation. after all admission process is done they are now cancelled our batch and wasted our whole year.we are now very frustrated and depressed right now,” a student wrote on Twitter.
