NMC has asked 70 medical colleges to comply with CCTV and NVR regulations, warning institutions yet to connect their systems to its central monitoring network

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has directed the medical colleges who do not install the required CCTV systems as per its directives to install the system immediately and connect their network video recorders (NVRs) to the CCTV command and control centre of NMC.

The commission noted that all medical colleges have to be fitted with 25 CCTV cameras at specific locations, an NVR and a live video feed to NMC with the recordings to be kept for 30 days as per its regulations. The NMC has issued the following advisories and regulations, namely, UGMSR-2023, PGMSR-2023 (Amendment) and MARB Regulations, 2023, which contain the following requirement:

NMC further stated that they have been making repeated followups to the institutions, not taking these requirements into consideration. There are several colleges that have not yet captivated their NVRs into the commission. There are several undergraduate and post graduate medical colleges which have been flagged by the NMC.

The official notice reads, “All such Medical Colleges/ Institutions under NMC which are not complying with the above referred regulations/guidelines are directed to comply with the same on immediate basis. For any clarification/ technical support the issues be addressed to support.cctv@nmc.org.in.”

Institutions that are not compliant

The commission has identified 70 medical colleges across various states and UTs which have yet to meet the NVR connectivity requirement. The list comprises institutes that provide medical undergraduate and post-graduate programmes and has been prepared based on the compliance status on 23rd June 2026.

All the institutions listed by the NMC have been requested to adhere to the rules and regulations as soon as possible. Colleges with technical problems or who need clarification have been requested to reach out to the commission via the official support email provided in the notice.
