NMIMS Bengaluru students win 1st prize at inter-college event for providing substitute to sanitary pads

All the three students who proposed the product called 'Maitri' won the prize at the inter-college event titled 'Synthesize', focused on entrepreneurship.
NEW DELHI: Three students belonging to the school of economics at Narsee Monjee Institute of Management and Sciences (NMIMS) Bengaluru won the first prize for proposing a product, which acts as a biodegradable substitute for sanitary pads. The students achieved the feat at the inter-college event titled 'Synthesize'. The event was centred on entrepreneurship, innovation and producer's side of trade, a statement from the institute said.
The students who proposed the product called 'Maitri' were namely Avni Gupta, Rashmi Rajaram and Savya Gulhare, pursuing BSc in economics from the institute. They informed in the event that the product proposed by them can be synthesised from Bamboo fibre along with a unique waste disposal system.

The trio taglined the product as 'Fibres that bind' and said that the product aims to establish harmony between the women and nature, which is not only beneficial for the women, but is also environment-friendly. Official release issued by the institute said that the team received immense praise for the waste disposal system and was conferred with the first prize.
On their win, the team said, "We are thrilled to have won the first prize and are thankful to the endless support we have received from our institute, NMIMS Bengaluru, as well as the faculty of school of economics. We are also thankful to the Economics association of Christ (deemed to be university) for organising the event. It was a great opportunity to interact, create and compete with the brighter minds of Bangalore".
