NSDC, CBSE launch school competition to encourage vocational education

In the first edition of the national-level championship, nearly 21,000 CBSE affiliated schools will be participating
NEW DELHI: National Skill Development Corporation has collaborated with Central Board of Secondary Education, or CBSE to launch a ‘JuniorSkill Championship’ for students of Class 6 to 12.
In the first edition of the national-level championship, nearly 21,000 CBSE affiliated schools will be participating. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the championship will be held virtually.
The championship includes several activities spread over a span of two months like skill competitions for schools, career counselling webinars, online boot camps and roundtable conference of academics and corporations leading up to the final national competition to be held in April 2021.
The championship will be conducted for ten skills like web-technologies, IT and software solutions, visual merchandising, graphic design among others.
“The JuniorSkills Championship 2021 will provide a platform for talented children of India to showcase their skills. At the same time, it will create a pipeline for forthcoming WorldSkills Competitions and will connect education with industry-related skills,” an official statement said.
The top 21 students to excel in the championship will get an opportunity to travel to WorldSkills International. The prizes also include cash rewards, certificates, tech-aid tools, and more
The registrations for the championship will end on February 19, 2021.
