NEET Result 2026: 'Your OMR answer sheet is digitally-altered,' NTA tells candidates in public post

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has warned MBBS candidates, who appeared in the re-National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2026 against filing fabricated, AI-generated OMR answer sheets and scorecards to seek re-evaluation. The NTA has stated that such action will invite criminal prosecution, and cancellation of candidature from future examinations.

The testing agency is currently responding to each MBBS aspirants' queries on its official X account regarding the submission of NEET UG 2026 OMR answer sheets for re-evaluation purpose.

The NTA advisory comes after it received several requests from NEET UG 2026 candidates, claiming that the OMR answer sheets uploaded on the website or emailed to them were “interchanged” or did not belong to them.

The testing agency also observed that there was digital regeneration of the re-NEET UG 2026 OMR sheet by AI-based image tools, along with overwriting of the identity fields such as the candidate name, the parents’ names, the signature and the thumb impression.

“Insertion into the fabricated image of a fictitious identity, that is, a candidate name and parentage that do not correspond to any candidate registered for NEET (UG) 2026,” NTA said in an official notification.

No change in reservation of MBBS seats: NTA

The NTA has also said that it may go ahead with a legal action against those creating forged OMR sheets.

“The result declared on the basis of the genuine OMR answer sheet on record will, in every such case, stand as declared, and no re-evaluation, revision or reservation of seat will be undertaken on the basis of any fabricated image,” it stated.

The NTA conducted the NEET UG 2026 on June 21 for admission to MBBS, BDS, and allied programmes at private and government medical colleges across the country.

The re-NEET UG 2026 result was declared on July 16 for over 20.01 lakh MBBS aspirants.

The testing agency has examined each request for re-evaluation and the score declared against that roll number is fully consistent with the official answer key and the calculation sheet.

'Genuine NEET UG OMR sheet carries barcode'

“Candidates and their guardians are hereby advised that the OMR answer sheet, the recorded responses, the score card and every other document generated in the course of NEET (UG) 2026 are public examination documents,” it added.

According to the NTA, every genuine document carries verifiable identifiers, including the barcode, the Test Booklet Number, the Answer Sheet number and, in the case of the score card, an embedded QR code.

Whereas, a fabricated image may deceive the eye, but it does not, and cannot, alter the record on those servers. “In every proceeding in which such a fabricated image has so far been placed, whether before NTA itself or before any Court, the fabrication has been exposed on verification against the record, and the claim founded on it has failed,” it further said.

The testing agency also clarified that any candidate who is of the view that the OMR answer sheet held against his or her roll number contains a genuine error may submit a representation to the Agency at the helpdesk address published on the Agency’s website.
