The Odisha government has collaborated with Unacademy to provide free coaching to 3,000 EWS students. Registration begins on December 15.

NEW DELHI: The Odisha government has signed an agreement with Unacademy, an EdTech company, to provide free coaching to around 3,000 poor and bright students of Class 11 in the state, the Times of India reported.

The students will reportedly receive free coaching for national level exams - Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)-Advanced, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)-UG, and National Defense Academy (NDA).
Class 11 students studying in government and aided higher secondary schools in the state affiliated to the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha can apply for scholarships for free coaching from Unacademy, the report said.

In order to get the scholarship, the students will have to appear in an aptitude test which is scheduled to be held on January 15, 2021. The registration for the test will commence on December 15 and the last date to apply is January 12, as per the report.
Around 1,000 students from 30 districts around the state will reportedly get free coaching in 2021-22 including 300 students for JEE Advanced, 300 for NEET UG, and 400 for NDA.

The evaluation criteria for offering scholarship to students is 50% marks achieved by them in Class 10 and 50% marks in the online aptitude test, the report said.
The aptitude test will be conducted for one hour and interested and eligible students can apply only through Unacademy’s section for the Odisha scholarship test. Once students qualify for the test, they will be required to submit an income certificate, the report further said.
