New Delhi, May 13: Leading coaching institutes of the country like Aakash, Allen Kota, and Resonance have already released the unofficial answer keys of NEET UG 2019. The anticipation now is for the release of the official NEET 2019 answer keys by National Testing Agency (NTA); it will be available sometime in the last week of May. Along with the official answer key, NTA will also release the OMR response sheet containing responses candidates entered during the exam.

NEET 2019 was conducted in pen-and-paper mode on May 5 for various paper codes like P1, P2, P3, P4, Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4, etc. The official answer key will be available for all the paper codes.

One basic difference between the official version of the answer key released by NTA and those released by coaching institutes is the official version is the final authority. It means, if a key is mentioned to be the correct answer to a question in the official version, it will supersede any other answer options given in the unofficial versions (by coaching institutes). Also, the coaching institutes can’t challenge the official answer key. The candidate is however allowed to challenge the official answer key. NTA after considering any such challenges will publish the final answer key of NEET 2019, post which no objection will be entertained.

Candidates who have calculated expected scores using the answer keys by coaching institutes, now would be able to almost lock their scores using the official NEET answer key 2019 before the declaration of result on or before June 5.

Also, most of the coaching institutes have only published answer keys for a few of the paper codes for which the exam was held. The official answer key, however, will be made available for all paper codes.

The OMR response sheet will contain details of responses graded by the machine. So, by using the answer key and the answer key as reference, the candidate can figure out how many questions he/she correctly attempted and so expected marks. Please note that if there is any discrepancy in the grading, the candidate may file a complaint with NTA. The candidate may also challenge an answer key if he/she deems it to be incorrect.

Scores calculated using the official answer key and response sheet is most likely to be almost identical to the actual NEET score.
