Over 34 percent candidates skip Indian Bank PO Prelims exam; 4467 shortlisted for Mains

New Delhi, November 13: Over 34 percent registered candidates did not appear in the Prelims examination of Indian Bank PO 2018. According to the official data released by the Indian Bank officials, out of the 2,40,181 registered candidates for the Indian Bank PO examination 2018, only 1,58,400 finally took the test. This means that as many as 81,781 candidates skipped the test. This figure of the absent candidates translates to 34 percent of the total registered candidates.

The official data further reflects that out of the 1,58,400 candidates who took the Prelims exam, 4467 candidates have been shortlisted for appearing in the mains examination, which is a little less than 3 percent of the total appeared candidates. These 3 percent shortlisted candidates correspond to a little over 10 times the number of total vacancies in Indian Bank this year. The bank had announced a total of 417 PO vacancies for the recruitment year 2018-19. Thus, 4467 is over 10 times of these 417 vacancies.

Besides the other categories, out of the total registered candidates, 84,882 candidates were from General category, 60920 from OBC, 67625 from SC and 21793 from ST. Out of these registered numbers, 62485 finally took the test from General category, 45978 from OBC, 35355 from SC and 11855 from ST category.

However, as per the result data of Indian Bank PO Prelims examination, 2223 candidates qualified from General category, 1165 from OBC, 633 from SC and 320 could clear the exam from ST category.

For the recruitment year 2018-19, out of the 417 vacancies, 212 are reserved for General, 112 for OBC, 62 for SC and 31 are reserved for ST category candidates.
