Pondicherry University, MSME Technology Centre to train students, work on research

NEW DELHI: The Pondicherry University and MSME Technology Centre, Puducherry, have signed an agreement for fostering industry-academic collaboration.

The university said the partnership intends to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and its practical application. Under the agreement, students of the university will be provided certification courses, internships at a concessional rate and access to the laboratories and library at the centre. The agreement will be in effect for three years from the signing date.

The university said students will also benefit from the hostel accommodations provided by the MSME Technology Centre. Mutual resource sharing, joint research and development and other measures are also included in the agreement.

Strengthening academia-industry bond

Speaking on the occasion, Amit Nain, deputy general manager of MSME Technology Centre said, "This collaboration is not just an agreement on paper. It's a commitment to fostering the future of our students and strengthening the bond between academia and industry."

Detailing the scope of the agreement, B Charumathi of department of management studies, Pondicherry University, said "This agreement marks a new chapter in our university's quest for excellence, providing our students with unmatched opportunities and access to world-class facilities."

The agreement was signed in presence of Gurmeet Singh, vice-chancellor of the university, and Murali, principal director. Several deans and heads of departments of the university, and officials from MSME Technology Centre were present on the occasion.

MSME Training Centre, Puducherry, provided access to advanced technologies to the industry through design and manufacturing, trained personnel and consultancy services in electronics system design and manufacturing (ESDM) area. It also provides support to entrepreneurs from the point of concept creation to development of prototype and low volume production.
