NEW DELHI: The Foreign Medical Graduate Examinations (FMGE) will be conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) on June 18, 2021. With the rise in COVID-19 cases, medical graduates appearing for FMGE are requesting NBE to postpone the screening test conducted to allow doctors who earned their medical degrees abroad to practice in India. Using hashtags like #FMGsINsupremecourt or #NBE_Postpone_FMGE, aspirants are seeking postponement of the FMGE computer-based exam. NBE had released the admit cards of FMGE June session for 17,628 candidates and has put the admit cards of candidates with deficient documents on hold.

Meanwhile, hearing the petition filed by the Association of MD Physicians and 2 others, the Supreme Court bench led by Justice Indira Banerjee adjourned the case. The court has decided to hear the case on June 18, 2021, the FMGE exam date.
In the hearing on June 15, 2021, Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice M.R. Shah heard the plea filed by three petitioners - Association of MD Physicians, All India Foreign Medical Graduates Association and Russian Medical Graduates Association. The Supreme Court has decided to wait for the Delhi High Court order to come on board. The next hearing will be done on June 18, 2021, the exam date.

FMGE is held biannually for the June and December session. FMGE June screening test is conducted for Indian nationals, Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs). The qualifying candidates will obtain the registration certificate from the National Medical Commission (NMC) or any State Medical Council (SMC).
