Presidency University UG Entrance Test postponed; semester extended
NEW DELHI: Amidst the COVID-19 outbreak, West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board has postponed the Presidency University Bachelor’s Degree Entrance Test (PUBDET) until further notice. The revised schedule will be published very soon by the board.The entrance test is conducted for admission in undergraduate programmes offered by Presidency University. The test was scheduled to be held on April 11 and April 12.
However, the application window for the Presidency University Master’s Degree Entrance Test (PUMDET) is still open and will be closed on March 26. Interested candidates who wish to take admission in PG programmes of Presidency University can fill their application before the last date of submission. The entrance test will be conducted on June 21.
Earlier, the university has decided to postpone the semester by a period of one month. “We were to complete our semester by April and then start with the examinations. However, now we will finish the classes by May and then the examinations will be conducted by June” said Vice-Chancellor, Presidency University, Anuradha Lohia in a Times of India's report. Similarly, Jadavpur University is also likely to push the ongoing semester, the university will be closed till April 15. All the affiliated colleges of Calcutta University will also be closed till April 15
In an effort to contain the spread of the pandemic, the West Bengal Government has already shut down all the educational institutes till March 31. A review of the ongoing situation will be done on March 30 to decide the period of extension.
