The Government of Punjab has announced summer vacation in all schools in view of heatwave. Accordingly, all government, aided, private, and recognised schools will remain shut from June 2 to 30, education minister Harjot Singh Bains informed.

“In view of the heatwave in Punjab, all Government, Aided, Recognized, and Private schools in the state will remain closed for summer vacation from June 2 to June 30, 2025,” the minister said in a post on X.

Last year, the state government advanced summer vacations owing to intense heatwave conditions and closed down schools from May 21 to June 30.

Recently, schools in five Punjab districts bordering Pakistan reopened six days after they were ordered shut in view of the war situation between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack. The state government had on May 8 ordered the closure of academic institutions for three days as India-Pakistan tensions soared.

In a similar situation, the territory of Jammu and Kashmir also revised school timings, starting from May 26. Some private schools in West Bengal advanced summer vacation following the request of chief minister Mamata Banerjee.

Jharkhand, Odisha, and Maharashtra governments have also announced morning classes while Delhi schools cut outdoor activities to beat the heat.
