NEW DELHI: The Punjab government has invited applications for a one-year free training programme in Punjabi stenography for candidates belonging to scheduled castes (SC) of the state. Candidates who are interested will have to register by August 20.
The Punjab minister of social justice, empowerment and minorities, Baljit Kaur, said the Punjabi stenography training programme will be conducted by the language department at its district-level training centres at Patiala, Sangrur, Jalandhar, Rupnagar and Mohali.

The minister said that selected candidates will be given a stipend of Rs 250 per month. There are a total of 80 seats in these training centres, out of which 20 seats are available for the centre running at Mohali and 15 seats each in other centres.
Kaur added that the applicant should be a resident of the state. Only unemployed candidates belonging to SC category with minimum educational qualification of graduation are eligible to apply for the programme. Candidates should have passed Class 10 with Punjabi as a subject.
Candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria should submit their application in the prescribed format to the concerned district language officer and assistant director, language department, Punjab, Government College, Phase-6, SAS Nagar.
They will have to send attested copies of their certificates and current passport size photograph in proforma.
Candidates will have to attend the interview, along with their original certificates, in the office of the district language officer of the concerned district on August 28 till 9 AM.
Proforma for admission to training in Punjabi Stenography (Language Department) is available on the department's website welfare.punjab.gov.in.
