NEW DELHI: The QS World University Asia 2025 rankings has been announced. Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has grabbed the 150th position in the QS Asia University Rankings 2025, advancing 13 places from its 163rd rank in the previous year.
The QS World University Asia Rankings evaluate universities based on a range of factors, including academic and employer reputation, faculty-student ratio, citations per paper, international research network, and the proportion of international students and faculty.
Over the past few years, VIT has improved its position, moving from 173rd in 2023, 198th in 2022, and 215th in 2021. In 2020, it ranked 228th, and in 2019, it was positioned between 281st and 290th.
The QS World University Asia ranking 2025 is topped by Peking University, followed by The University of Hong Kong and National University of Singapore (NUS). Other institutions in the top 10 include Nanyang Technological University, Fudan University, and Tsinghua University.

The QS Asia University Rankings for 2025 reveal some notable shifts compared to 2024. Peking University continues to maintain its top position with a score of 100, consistent across both years.
The University of Hong Kong follows closely at second, with a slight increase in score from 97.9 in 2024 to 99.7 in 2025. However, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore and Fudan University saw positional changes; NTU moved up to 4th with a score of 98.3 in 2025, while Fudan dropped to 5th despite having a similar score of 97.2.
Tsinghua University, which held the 4th spot in 2024, dropped to 7th in 2025, while Zhejiang University advanced to 8th in 2025 from 6th in 2024. Other notable changes include Yonsei University moving up to 9th place in 2025 from 8th in 2024, and City University of Hong Kong making its debut in the top 10, ranking 10th in 2025.
