REET 2021: Rajasthan Govt suspends RAS, RPS officers, 13 teachers in cheating case

Five were arrested in Bikaner with slippers fitted with Bluetooth devices for allegedly attempting to cheat in the REET 2021 exam on Sunday.

NEW DELHI: Rajasthan government suspended a Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) and two Rajasthan Police Service (RPS) officers along with 13 government teachers and three police personnel on suspicion of their role in cheating in REET 2021 examination, the state education department said, according to ANI.

"The sub-divisional officer of Wzirpur in Sawai Madhopur district Narendra Kumar Meena (RAS), Circle city circle officer Naryan Tiwari and Sawai Madhopur Deputy Superintendent Rajulal Meena were suspended with immediate effect," the report said.

Saurabh Swamy, director of secondary education said that 13 government teachers were also suspended.

On September 26, five people were arrested in Bikaner with slippers fitted with Bluetooth devices for allegedly attempting to cheat in the REET 2021 exam. The Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teachers (REET)-2021 was, however, held on Sunday with tight security arrangements.

As a precautionary measure to check possible cheating in the exam, mobile internet services were suspended on Sunday in many districts, including Jaipur.

Seven others were also arrested from different places in connection with fraud in the REET exam , PTI reported.

Bikaner Superintendent of Police Priti Chandra said the five arrested people were wearing slippers in which the devices were fitted. Two of them, identified as Madan Lal and Trilokchand, are allegedly gang members who provided the slippers to candidates or their relatives while three were REET candidates, the report added. The slippers were provided to candidates for Rs 6 lakh.

The REET 2021 level 2 exam is conducted to determine the eligibility of teachers for Classed 6 to 8.
