NEW DELHI: The president of the Congress-affiliated National Students Union of India (NSUI), Neeraj Kundan, has written to Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan asking him to postpone the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET 2021) for undergraduates. NEET UG is scheduled for September 12.

In a social media post on Twitter Neeraj kundan reiterated his request to reschedule the upcoming NEET UG on September 12.

Citing the impact of COVID-19 on students, Kundan said: “The ongoing covid pandemic has tested students on all fronts. The exams were cancelled and postponed multiple times. Students were under tremendous anxiety and stress.”

Stressing on the fact that Class 12 is a very crucial year in a student’s life and the fact that there are multiple exams on the same day or very close to it, NEET applicants have also requested the Union education minister to reschedule the exams.

He further states that exams should be rescheduled for at least 7-14 days so that the students get ample amounts of time for preparation.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) which conducts the NEET has not postponed it and the exam is still for September 12. Several exams come very close to it and Kundan lists them out in his letter:

  • Indian Council of Agricultural Research, All India Entrance Examination of Admission (ICAR-AIEEA) - September 7,8 and 9

  • Physics Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Board - September 9

  • Physics Madhya Pradesh (MP) Board - September 9

  • Biology Madhya Pradesh (MP) Board - September 13

  • Maths Central Board of Secondary Education CBSE Board - September 13

  • Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka Under Graduate Entrance Test (COMEDK) - September 14

  • Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) - September 6-18

  • Maharashtra Common Entracne Test (MHT CET) - September 4-20.

A week ago aspirants across the country started a campaign on Twitter demanding postponement of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Examination, NEET-UG 2021, given the fact that it is clashing with so many exams.
