NEW DELHI AUGUST 20: The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) released the results for the RRB JE CBT 1 on August 13, 2019, through their official RRB websites like RRB Ajmer, Mumbai, Patna, Allahabad, etc. Along with the results, the RRBs also released the exam date and city information for JE CBT 2 which will start from August 28 2019.
Upon declaration, many candidates protested against the cut off and have also requested the RRBs and the Rail Min, Shri Piyush Goel to revise the CBT 1 results.
The protest from candidates is on grounds of the first notification No. CEN 03/2018 which states that the RRB JE CBT 1 was a qualifying examination. Candidates are disputing that the RRB JE CBT 1 was a non-technical paper and it cannot be a parameter to check the technical aptitude required for a Junior Engineer post in the Indian Railways. However, despite many candidates qualifying the examination, the high cut-offs have denied them the entrance to the CBT 2 examination. See here Railways Official Clarification
The frustration has made many candidates protest against the RRBs and what best than social media to showcase the disappointment? Candidates have stormed Twitter to raise their voice against the authorities and have also requested them to ‘reconsider’ the cut-offs.
The request says that the candidates who have scored 50% and above should be allowed to appear for the 2nd Stage CBT examinations.
According to media reports, The RRB, in an official statement claims, “All information about qualifying paper, cut-off marks, technical or non-technical subjects etc raised in a section of media reports are wrong and unfounded.” It added, “The candidates have been shortlisted as per the methodology described in the official notification.”
If media reports have to be believed, a total of 32,05,098 applications were received and 24,74,394 candidates were selected to appear for the 1st Stage CBT held from May 22 to June 2. RRB has claimed that through the CBT, a total of 2,02,616 candidates have been shortlisted which is 15 times the total vacancies advertised.
The 2nd Stage CBT examinations of RRB JE for 13,538 posts will be conducted from August 28 to September 1, 2019. The syllabus for the CBT 2 is highly technical. Candidates will be able to download the admit card 4 days prior to the examination.
