RV University earmarks Rs 10 crore for scholarships for over 500 UG and PG students in 2023-24. The scholarships are on first come-first serve basis.

NEW DELHI: RV University, Bangalore (RVU) has set aside Rs 10 crore for merit scholarships in academic year 2023-24. Over 500 undergraduate and post graduate students to benefit from these scholarships. As the admissions for 2023-2024 are open, students can apply for scholarships for this year at admissions.rvu.edu.in.
RVU will be awarding the scholarships to meritorious students, these include 100% , 50% and 25% coverage scholarships for the student's education in their first year. The scholarships will be renewed for the subsequent year if the student maintains their merit.

The scholarships will be awarded to first come-first serve basis and are open to students from all state and central boards across India. The amount of the scholarship will either cover the cost of the tuition fee, in full or part. The university will be awarding the scholarships to nearly 200 bachelor of technology (BTech) students, 50 bachelor of science (BSc) students studying in the RV school of computer science and engineering.
A total of 75 students pursuing the five-year integrated course in LLB including bachelor of arts (BA-LLB), bachelor of business administration (BBA-LLB) and master of law (LLB) in the school of law. Nearly 40 students from school of liberal arts and science and school of design and innovation each will receive the scholarship. In addition to this, 80 merit scholarships will also be given to students in BBA, bachelor of commerce (BCom) and BA in economics at the school of business and school of economics.
Previously, the university announced 100 scholarships with 100% coverage for students that lost one or more parents to the covid-19 pandemic. In 2022 RVU gave scholarships worth Rs 3 crore to 200 students. The admissions for UG, PG and full-time PhD programmes are currently ongoing. These scholarships are spread across RVU's six schools that offer over 45 degree programmes.

While speaking about the initiative, RV University, vice-chancellor, YSR. Murthy, said: “We are pleased to announce these merit scholarships to deserving students. Academic excellence has been at the core of our mission since 2021. We have constantly increased the scholarship funds over the years. I wish to sincerely thank the Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust (RSST) for extending fruits of education to students from all strata of society. These scholarships will help us in the task of producing next generation of leaders and contribute to nation building.”
While appealing philanthropists to contribute to RVU's scholarship fund to increase such opportunities to students, RSST, president, MP Shyam said: “The spirit of the scholarships aligns with our Trust mission to provide affordable world-class education to students in need. RVU promises to offer a vibrant interdisciplinary ecosystem of learning. We are committed to creating a significant corpus to fund scholarships. I appeal to philanthropists and socially conscious individuals to contribute to RV University’s Scholarship Fund.”
